Led by FAW Casting Co., Ltd. and mainly undertaken by Suzhou Sanji Foundry Equipment Co., Ltd., the national science and technology major project "High end CNC Machine Tools and Basic Manufacturing Equipment" jointly implemented by Tsinghua University, National Academy of Mechanical Sciences, Xi'an Jiaotong University and other units, the project "3500 ton Precision Horizontal Real time Control Die Casting Machine and Complete Equipment" passed the technical final acceptance on October 20, 2015 at FAW Casting Co., Ltd. Casting Mold Equipment Factory.
Through nearly 4 years of joint research and hard work by well-known domestic industry university research institutions, this project has finally developed a 3500 ton real-time control die-casting machine. The main engine of the die-casting machine has reached the advanced level of international similar products in terms of maximum air injection speed, boosting and pressure building time, etc. It has also established a 3500 ton fully automatic die-casting production demonstration line at FAW, realizing large-scale and complex die-casting production of heavy-duty truck 15 speed transmission housing, Hongqi sedan 7-speed automatic transmission housing, and EA211 1.6L engine cylinder body.
During the implementation of the project, participating units formed an innovative team of "industry university research application" with the project as a link for joint research and development. The research results broke the blockade and monopoly of developed countries in the field of large-scale die-casting equipment and technology, effectively promoting the development of independent automobile manufacturing industry.
